    Storing Bulk Ammo

Sup People, As I stockpile my ammunition(45acp, 9mm, 12gau) What's the best way to store them. Can I loosely pile them in an ammo can(bulk style) and throw a desiccant pack on top? I was thinking about lining the can with a burlap bag, folding the top in, then placing the dessicant pack on that, close it up and put it in the safe. Keep the boxed ammo boxed and the bulk ammo as described? What do you guys do? TIA

    Vacuum seal it.

If not, people shoot ammo that has been sitting on a shelf for 50 years without problems. I leave it loose in an ammo can and rotate my stock. I dont have any buried for the end of the world though.

The burlap will cause the ammo to rust.

If you're going to pack you're ammo "loose-leaf" in an ammo can, and you want to line it with something to better protect it, consider cardboard or skipboard as an alternative to burlap. Also, the next time you buy something electroic, like a lamp, DVD player, coffee maker, etc, save the silica pack and throw that in the can.

I throw my silica packs in a shot glass. I'm sure it is just overkill/unnecessary but I want moisture from the pack isolated as much as possible from my ammo.

I have a commercial dome chamber vacuum sealer. I seal the cardboard box the ammo comes with. Looks like a frozen veggie.

I store all my ammo loose in ziplock bags inside ammo cans.

I write the purchase date, caliber, bullet weight and amount of rounds on the bag.

I use quart size bags and put 200 rounds of 9mm, 150 rounds of .45 and .40 in each. I press all the air out of the bags when I seal them.

Makes range trips a breeze to grab a bag or two and go.
