    Reloads are a success!

Shot my 5 loaded up 223 rounds, no issues whatsoever!

    LC brass
    Federal Primer
    22.7 grains of IMR4895
    55gr FMJBT Hornady

i think this is a good load for my gun. Until I try some different powder, I think I am going to stick with this,

Congrats. Nervous at all on that first shot? I know I was. How was the grouping and what were you shooting them out of?

        Super Nervous!

I didnt even aim! I just wanted to make sure they functioned.

Now I now they all work correctly and cycle the action so I am GTG

Now i do have a question though, I ad some other rounds i didnt shoot because I couldnt get them to extract. Whats up with that?

Congrats! I remember the first time I loaded up a pistol. I wore heavy leather gloves and closed my eyes.

            Not sure what you mean.

Maybe they didn't extract because you didn't shoot them.

              ha ha no no

I loaded up my mag and attempted to cycle the action to insure good extraction. But no go. Maybe I didnt have enough crimp and they were too tight in the chamber?

idk what the crimp would have to do with an extraction issue, did you FL size them

Are you referring to the bolt extracting the rounds from the magazine and chambering them or extracting the shells after you've shot them?

J, what are you saying here?

Were they hard to extract after just chambering them ? (not having been shot) Do they chamber easily but extract with difficulty?

Since they weren't more than mag-length it wasn't the bullet getting hung in the rifling - so it is probably a case-dimension to chamber problem....

As was asked, you're full length sizing them, right? If not you should. If yes, are you sure your die is meeting the shell-holder at the top?
Are they Lee dies without the small-base piece?

                      Good job Justin

Sounds like you did not full size some of your brass. It is always a good thing to decap / resize brass and test the first 3-5 pieces in your chamber to make sure they eject. Once you have them where they come out with no problems go ahead and crank them out. Yes it might take a bit longer but it sure beats getting stuck rounds in your chamber later on.

I load on a Dillon XL650 but I choose to decap/resize slightly cleaned brass and then polish it after resizing so that I do not have any powder contaminated with sizing lube. Yes it is more work but peace of mind is worth it in the long run for me.

As stated above, unless they come out of the same gun you should full length resize. Fire formed brass can be better for accuracy but must be used in same gun as no two chambers are the same. I am also not sure how they work in gas operated semi's.

Sorry about not being clearer guys...

I used a lyman 2 die set. I full length resized all of the brass. Its possible I didnt have the die set properly at First.

I loaded the rounds into the mag. I cycled the charging handle and chambered a round. When I attempted to cycle the handle again, the, charging handle would not budge. It took crazy force to get it free.

Thanks for all the help guys

Buy your self a good case gauge. I have one for every caliber that I reload for. I check the sized brass on the first shell that is sized before I run a batch. Also use them to check all of my loaded ammo. It sure is a Bummer to have shell jam or not feed in a match. Ask me how I know.

I just got set up with my lee pro 1000 and i am having the same problem. The cases measure correctly according to spec but they get stuck in both of my ars. i screw the sizing die down until it touches the shell plate than i incress it about another half turn per the instuctons. Any one have any ideas? i just ordered the dilon case gages online a few mins ago but i really want to get some bullets cranked out!
