Turning .40S&W into .357 Sig brass?

Can I do it? I ran a few through the sizing die and it looks good. I got the Idea because you can make 400 cor-bon brass from .45ACP just by running it through the sizing die. the stuff I made did end up 15 thousandths shorter than the factory brass I am reloading

i dont know, but this thread makes me want a .400 corbon barrel for my usp. i didnt know it was that simple!!! just when i thought i was done buying gun stuff for awhile....

for the 400 corbon, the conversion kit and dies are going to cost you more than the barrel.. if .40 bullets are 1 cent less than .45 bullets, it will only take you 20,000 rounds to break even

Appartently there is a whole book on wildcatting rounds. Like making .300 whisper cases from a .223.

Probably* why people have frequently and successfully used necked down .40 S&W brass to make* .357 SIG cases, even though the .40 S&W is over .020" shorter

You can, and it will end up shorter. I've done it, but the short neck does not offer much to work with in terms of bullet retention.

thank you for the good info...especially the link. I'm a cheep basterd so.. I will probably give it a go. I am probably going to have to get jacked FN bullets, I don't think lead is going to work out all that well because I am seeing some really HOT loads for this round... upwards of twice what I am loading my 185 grain .45ACP rounds with (4.1 bullseye)
