    Handgun Ammo Comparisons? Please Direct.

Just wondering if there is a thread (I did search) that compares/contrasts the different brands/manufacturers of handgun ammo? Something that speaks to quality, reliability, accuracy, availability, value, etc.

I remember seeing a very comprehensive comparison for some rifle ammo, but I can't seem to locate that thread, right now.

If there is such a thread, would someone be so kind as to post a link? Thanks!

Can you narrow it down to caliber and use? ie defense vs target?

Well... I was tring NOT to be selfish, or too specific but in our case, it would be .45ACP & 9mm. Primarly target use. (I have my HD ammo )

Something like a generalized comparison... i.e: "XYZ Brand is cheap, but has crappy cases that can cause ejector issues".

9mm: everything I've ever shot is reliable. It's all been brass cased (Fiocchi, Winchester, CCI Blazer Brass, Federal, my cast boolit handloads). CCI Blazer (aluminum cased) is also reliable, but not reloadable, so I don't buy it. I don't fire the Russian stuff (Tula, Wolf, Bear) because my range disallows it, but it's said to be reliable, though somewhat extra-dirty.

.45 ACP: I see lots of headstamps from lots of manufacturers, too. 1911's seem to like American ammo, but in some cases, they FTF/FTE with the Russian ammo. Glocks will eat ANYTHING.

The above assumes you're firing semi-autos. For revolvers: buy whatever you want, it'll work. :-)

Couldn't have said it better myself. Don't know if you're a plinker, but .22 LR is a whole different story...
