The interchange you want to try is fine. I think you will find little,if any, difference in the way the ammo preforms with benchrest primers vrs reg primers.

As long as your are using the primer it calls for, say small rifle. Then it would absolutely be okay to use a cci small rifle bench rest primer. But not a small rifle BR and use it in a small pistol PP. You catch my drift.. Bench Rest does not have a different burn rate then normal at all. They are just inspected to meet top quality standards.

I do not sub pistol or rifle for each other. I do sub brands of primers without any problems. I also use mag primers in all my hunting loads and most all other loads. I use reg primers for plinking etc when I have bought them super cheap. I have reloaded since the early 1960's. You can change reg for mag for match etc as well as brand changes and not worry. IF you are loading max then you may want to back off some and then work back up to max. "I" personally have loaded max loads and sub mag primers for reg primers.

+1 except I,ve only been loading since about the mid 90's. When components were hard to get last year I substituted mag rifle primers for regular LR for 30-06. I reduced my load and worked up. I found that I started blowing out primers before I got to my max load. Some of my load data for 204 Ruger seems to interchange magnum and regular primers, though I have'nt done that yet. Never substituted rifle for pistol or vice versa though, and don't think I would.
