    Beginner reloading?

I am looking to start reloading. I have two pistols I use most often at the range a cz 82 and a cz 75b in 40 s&w. I was looking at the lee hand presses and was wondering if they are a good starting point? Also if I got one what else would I need? I'm working on a real tight budget.

super cheap and fits in a shoe box setup:

hand press, lee dies/shell holder(comes with some load data), calipers, if you wanna go super cheap get a set of lee dippers for powder, lee hand prime tool.

*edit* it's gonna be SLOW going. but it's super cheap, and will make ammo.

I'm looking in the hundred dollar or less for startup. I use maybe 200 rounds when I go shoot and I shoot every other week or so.

Also what sort of time investment am I looking at to make 200 rounds?

I agree. At least a single stage lee. That thigh master will get old real quick.
          Here's a complete rig for $90.

            ^^^+1^^^
You can easily do 100 in a comfortable evening with a single stage press and none of this stuff will be wasted if/when you move up to a progressive. You still must factor in $30-$40 or so for a die set. $30 for a Lee 3 die carbide set or $40 for one with a factory crimp die (nice, but you can get by without it with careful adjustment of the seating die).

Don't worry about tumblers, ultrasonic cleaners, or any of that stuff now. People reloaded for years with nothing more than a rag and a bucket.

The Lee Anniversary Kit is a fine way to get started. + 1 to that suggestion.

After you've done a bunch of rounds with this kit and have LEARNED YOUR GOOD HABITS DOWN PAT, then consider either the Lee Classic Turret or the Pro 1000. I have both, and they're great.

If you shoot that much you will definitely want to start on a single stage. The Lee setup above is plenty adequate, if that's all you are looking to spend. You won't regret it I'm sure. I'd become fed up pretty quick trying to load that much on anything hand held, very slow going for that volume of loading.

I've had a XL650 w/case feeder for a while now but at one point I did use a lee hand press (among others) for pistol rounds. It's great, but slow. You'll need a hand priming tool and dies as well as some sort of scale, even if you use the lee dippers like someone here mentioned. The nice thing is a lot of the process can be done comfortably on the couch watching T.V. rather than out in the garage in front of a workbench (though you'll wanna turn the T.V. off and pay attention when you measure & drop powder). 200 rounds will probably take you around 5-6 hours total. If you're shooting every other week you can do one stage a night so you don't get tired or bored. You don't need a case tumbler right away, or at all for pistol cases; if you think they're too dirty, toss'em out.

+1 on the lee anniversary kit. It's a good starter rig. Don't buy it from midway though. Get it from grafs and save yourself $10 on shipping.

what I was suggesting was the super peasant model.

So if I buy the lee anniversary kit I still have to spend another 70 bucks or so on dies??? What would I need with the hand press?

dies are closer to 40 a set, if that.

Check out this link, they have pre made kits
