    Best ammo to buy?

    Im out to test my skill and to get a good reading on my gun. Ill be shooting a .308 and 5.56. I havent had the time to get into loading yet. Whats the best off the shelf ammo for what Im looking to do?

    You'll get a lot of suggestions so here's mine:

    5.56: Black Hills or Federal XM193

    .308 Federal Gold Medal Match

    Buy the Lyman 49th edition reloading manual and start saving your brass now. Nothing factory compares to handloads created to work the best with your particular rifle.

        Thanks guys, Yeah I have about 2k rounds saved up. As soon as I can get the garage cleaned out Im going to get into reloading.
