Berry's .30 cals for .30-06?

I don't use them but have shot 150's in my Garand. I shot several hundred of the Hornady Amax 150 grain soft points and they shot straight. Are you sold on 150 grain bullets? I found my M1 is more accurate with heavier bullets and I load 168 grain HPBT's. I have tried Sierra MatchKing 168's and Hornady Amax 168's and they are top notch but run $28/100. I did a lot of research on the proper bullet weight for M1's and a lot of match shooters on the CMP form use 168's. If you are looking to get the best accuracy out of your rifle I would stick with a match grade bullet.
However I recently tried 168 Milspec HPBT's from Widners (http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.c...ir=278|281|727) and they are perfect for target shooting and steel targets out to 600 yards. They are not as uniform in weight as the SMK's or Amax's and I found they were +-2 grains but that's plenty good enough for me. I recently picked up some Hornady 168's HPBT seconds that another Calgunner posted about. They are exactly the same as the one's from Widners and were less expensive by $30. I believe I scored 500/$77 shipped.
BTW, are you using an adjustable gas plug?Last edited by Mac Attack; 11-01-2010, 12:49 AM. -
I have used their product in pistols and was not impressed. I ended up trading them off. I had to run the bullets through a sizer so that they would all be the same size, then I weighed them and sorted them by weight. There was a lot of difference.
I do not understand why lead bullet mfg's price their product the same as bulk copper jacketed bullets. I will always spend a extra dollar or two to buy real jacketed bullets. Your mileage may vary substantially with these.Comment
