    Dont Like Lyman Tuffnut

Lyman "Tuffnut" cleaning media, the red stuff with polishing rouge. It ssems to leave a residue on the inside of the casings. And I dont know if that residue when loading with powder will have any adverse effects. So I am running them again with plain clean corncob to see if I can remove that red residue.

If you have a pet store close to your area, you can pick up a bag of finely ground walnut used for bird cage bedding. Along with Nu Finish car polish makes for a very shiny and very cheap cleaning for the brass.

I am not really looking for shiny. Cleaning is what I am after. The Tuffnut is more of a course media for deep cleaning where the corncob is finer. I will go by the feed store for the gound walnut.

Just use corn cob to get dirt and powder residue off the brass prevent scratching the the sizing die.

As I went to the Pet Store I picked up some crushed walnut shell. Sitting next to it I found a 1 pound box of crushed clam shells. If it isnt good for cleaning casings let me know. Because if it isnt its high in calcium.

Crushed clam shells now that's a new one. Give it a try and let us know!
When I buy 1/8" corn cob it run around $13.00 for 25 pounds at my local feed store. What was the cost of the crushed clam shells?

A slight error in the clam shells, they are oyster shells. And its only a 1 pound box. That stuff is pretty hard, so it could scrub away some tough powder residue. I could supplement with either corn cob or walnut
