What the heck was this fired in? 9mm Brass

One of a few examples of some brass that I came across while reloading 9mm. I bought the brass from a Calgunner. Anyone know what the heck this was fired in? Obviously, I didnt reload it...

It looks like the casing was actually fired, as in go through the rifling

But yeah, it's probably one of those fluted chambers.

I got to handle one of those pistols a while back....interesting feel. had no idea about the fluted chamber.

I have an HK SR9 that is just like a G3 91 series in .308 and it has a fluted chamber. It dont have to be a SMG to have it. All modern HK blow back delayed chamber firearms have it. Early Hk firearms lacking the fluted chamber were having problems with extraction from the case sticking in the chamber and this caused the extractor to tear the rim right of the case from its violent method of extraction. Hk engineers designed the fluted chamber to aid in extraction by using some of the gas chamber pressure to flow around the casing to break its tight grip. It was a good fix but it was hell on the ejected brass. Reloading this HK brass can be done but its not recommended. especially if reloaded multable times. I like to call it HK pin striping.
