Loaded my first 30-06 rounds :)

Finished them last night. Had to hand the wife my first round and "look what I did sweetheart."

    Did the following:

    Remmy 700 rifle

    OAL - 3.200"
    150 gr Speer ballistic tip
    Winchester large rifle primer
IMR 4064 with the following loads:
    47gr
    48gr
    49gr
    50gr
    51gr

The Lyman and Speer books show 53gr max

What press and dies did you use ? You also trim the cases as well ? Was it new brass or military .

Used the RCBS Rock Chucker with RCBS dies.
The brass was once fired Winchester.
The cases have been trimmed and deburred to the length average of the Hornady, Lyman, and Speer manuals (can't recall the exact length).

Tonight I am working a load up for the Garand with some ball powder (H335 powder I THINK it is). Planning on the same thing, 3-5 rounds of a worked up powder grain weight until I find the load which groups the best.
