Video Series - Lee Classic Turret Press

In light of AB 962 and February 2011, I dedicate this video series to the shooters of California. I strongly recommend that each and every shooter pick up one of these presses and get started.

This new 4-part series is about the Lee Classic Turret Press. Not as fast as a progressive, but faster than single-stage, very well-built, will reload virtually everything short of .50 BMG/DTC, and is less than $100. That's hard to beat.

This is as much a "how to" as it is a description and review. We show you how to set up the press for efficient reloading, including the Pro Auto-Disk Powder Measure and the Safety Prime. There are a couple of "gotchas" that we show you how to deal with. We then show you a short run of 20 rounds in just under 10 minutes (not rushing).

My hope is that this will help show folks that ammo production need not be expensive, and that yes, newbies can and should do this.

Thanks T. I'm still consider Lee LM as an option but now leaning strongly to the LCT right now.

I haven't used the Load-Master, but I do use its little brother, the Pro 1000, a whole lot, and the Pro 1K is a fine piece of gear. If you do go the LM direction, be sure to check out www.loadmastervideos.net.

The LCT won't spit out ammo as fast as either the LM or Pro1K will. But I can't think of a better "all around" tool than the LCT.

BTW, I love your sig. It is about as right-on as it gets.

Love your vids. While I think I'd already made my mind up by the time I saw your classic turret vid, you probably helped seal the deal. JUST started using it last night. Wish I'd thought to get the safety prime!
Anyway, pretty rad, and WAY faster than a single stage.

Thanks! BTW, I just went to Glocktalk and read that thread. OH! MY! GAWD! Everybody should head over there and read the comments. They had me laughing hysterically for five straight minutes. I hadn't even seen that angle when I was playing it back, but they've actually got a point.

You're right about the turret press. It's not exactly a pleasurable piece of equipment to use, nor is it a precision instrument, but it was relatively cheap and can change calibers in less than a couple minutes. For making small batches of various caliber stuff, there aren't many good substitutes.

Definitely. For reloading books, I like Lyman's 49th Edition. The Lee book is a good one and has lots and lots of data, but I find that I actually use the data in the Lyman book a bit more. "The ABC's of Reloading" has gotten rave reviews. I haven't read it myself, but it's highly spoken of. That Challenger Press is another fine way to get started, BTW. Good choice.

The Pro 1000 spits out very good ammo pretty fast, and for not a lot of money. Just make sure you keep that primer feed mechanism clean (this is a big deal), and it should work just fine.

"Miss B.H.C." has just this weekend graduated from single-stage reloading to the Classic Turret Press. She's churnin' out ammo now. For those who have ladies in your life that think "oh, I can't do that"...YES, THEY CAN!
