    What is this .223?

I have to be careful when sizing/de-priming .223 brass because of these. I can tell when I encounter it because my de-priming pin doesn't budge when it hits it. It's not Berdan primed is it?

Look down the throat. 2 holes = berdan. I know the triple crimp on .308 is berdan but I seem to remember the triple crimp on .223 goes either way. But even if its boxer the flash holes are too small. When I run it to them I toss them in the recycle bucket.

Norinco 223 has the triple crimp. It'll work, but I usually toss 'em. For some reason the primer pockets on them are usually oblong after swaging.

Just another form of military crimp. The cases have to be hand-deprimed, and once you
remove the crimp with a deburring tool you'll be GTG.

I believe that brass is from Pretoria Metal Pressings (PMP), Division of Denel (Pty) Ltd. (South Africa)

Should have thought of this, thanks. It was Berdan! No wonder I broke a decap pin on these last time I processed a batch.
