how many 9mm FMJ bullets in USPS flat rate boxes

Does anybody have any idea how many 115gr 9mm bullets will fit into the small, medium, or large USPS flat rate boxes?

Montana Gold uses a Medium Flat Rate Box for their bullets which are usually packaged inside of another box. I think you can fit 4K 115gr which comes out to 65 pounds, I am not sure what the limit is. So maybe they ship 3.5K or 3.75K instead.

He stated bullets, so I hope that is what he wanted to know.

No, you cannot ship ammo via USPS, only one that ships ammo is UPS and you have to go tot he Depot/Hub and drop it off yourself with a Small Arms Sticker or whatever on the package. It is not cheap either, I spent like $15 to ship a 10# box of ammo once.

Yes I am talking about bullets, not loaded ammo.

Are you sure they are using a medium? because 4k seems like a lot.

Not a 100% sure, it has been a while since I ordered 9mm bullets from them. Last 3 boxes have been .223. So more than likely it is a Large Box with another box inside of it. Not bad considering that a 60+ pound box from UPS would be a lot more then $15 to ship.

At least 2k would fit in a medium.

                    I ordered 2k of 147gr 9mm....each box of 1k was about a 6" cube, so I image 4k may be doable....

                      Gio,
I think MG ships the 4k 115gr's in a large box. The box seems to be a medium size within the large.

the 9mm boxes are shorter so they fit in the medium flat rate that is big but narrow you can get 3500 3 boxes 3 boxes then one box sideways depends on your 500 box size

if they do loose in bags you can fit 4k in either medium but have to remain under the 70 pound limit

Well........let's see, there are 7000 grains in a pound, if the 9mm bullets are 115 grains each, then one pound equals 60.87 bullets. IIRC, the flat rate boxes can ship 70 pounds for one price. Considering the packaging weighs about 2 pounds, that would be 60.87 bullets times 68 pounds, which equals4139 bullets.....give or take.
147 grain bullets equals 3238......give or take.

Bullets are shipped in a Medium sized box packed inside a large box for a reason. Bullets are soft and designed to conform. The 2nd box assures they don't arrive all bent out of shape. Sort of an "Air Ride" suspension. Have you ever seen how packages are handled????

I just got 2k 124gn Montanna gold in a medium box and it weighed in at 35+ pounds, postman hates me now, but that's OK, I'll be ordering 4k next week.
