    AK Ammo quality

I'm up to speed with my .223 ammo choices. However, I just bought my saigas and ak. What's considered a good brand for 7.62x39 ? thanks

To be honest most of us use Wolf steel case for AK/SKS/Saigas as they perform well.

I have also used WWB and Remington UMC which is brass cased and costs quite a bit more money. But if you have the money then go for it

Ranges don't have a problem with steel cased ammunition.. it's the steel jacketed ammunition they have a problem with. Just make sure the bullet jacket is copper. If it doesn't stick to a magnet.. you're good to go. In case you didn't already know.. steel jackets are generally the same color as copper so you can't tell just by looking at it.. unless you're just that good

I haven't seen any in WalMarts before but all gun shops carry it. Usually priced between $4-5. per box of 20. Ammoman.com usually has a good stock of it in bulk as well.

TEN DOLLARS??? . Man, I am glad I don't go there anymore. I stopped hanging out around two years ago. Wolf and Golden Tiger are good brands. If you are shooting at a range that doesn't allow bi-metal then GT is out of the question. Wolf makes copper jacketed bullets that are range friendly and the box is half yellow. I havn't seen any for sale online for a while and refuse to pay 9 bucks at the range for 20.

Another option is yugo surplus. I believe wideners still has it. It is brass cased and copper jacketed. I have shot it and I love it...good stuff. The only thing is that bugs some is that it is corrosive. I just use some windex at the range and clean when I get home with windex and ballistol which can be found at midway.

Widener's Reloading and Shooting Supply has ammo and reloading supplies for sale at cheap prices. Find out why we're the best deal on the web today!
