Walmart getting computers to keep selling ammo

Hopefully not a dupe, I did wiki search it quickly. I am super happy today, as I was buying some 9mm and 38 I mentioned how much its going to suck to buy super expensive ammo after 962 hits (unless we stop it...? COME ONE CALGUNS!) anywho. The guy at the counter (he works the ammo section alot and seems to actually know what he's talking about) said that walmart is getting computer systems (like they had when they sold guns) to be able to do fingerprinting and keep selling ammo in CA!!!! HOLY CRAP I'M HAPPY. It may still cost more than it does now, but you know it will be cheaper than most scalping gunshops!

btw: this was Santa Maria walmart, and they have 9mm up the WAZZOOOOO

WoW ! Good news, thanks. I shop for ammo at the Santa Maria store all the time. I'll ask the next time I'm in there. Probably this weekend.

Does the SM Walmart have 45? I might have to drive down there tomorrow for a job, so would be worth the stop if you noticed that they have it on the shelf.

          don't blame you!

And as far as .45, I believe they had a box or two of the remington. Don't quote me on that though, I know they had some .40, and a few boxes or .357 but also this walmart has the REALLY cheap federal .22 lr ammo. The 1.47$ (per 50) this is the price that used to get me a brick for 13 something$. It's certainly worth your trip to check it out, it is actually one of the most stocked Walmarts I've ever seen as far as ammo. Even compared to NV and AZ walmarts.

While I understand your feeling of relief, I don't consider this good news. Wal-Mart is thus becoming an enabler for this horribly evil policy. Better that they not sell ammo at all than enable this total frontal attack on the freedoms of law-abiding Californians. Yes, you read that right--better to not sell ammo in California at all than to comply with this...evil...law.

"But we've gotta be pragmatic!", some very misguided people might say. WRONG. The truly pragmatic move is to start reloading your own ammo. No ridiculous thumbprint, no un-Constitutional "registry" (that's what this is, an ammo registry), and money saved, to boot. Really, it's not that hard nor expensive. I've got plenty of videos on the subject for how to do it. You would do very well to start now, before February rolls around. It ain't that far away....

                +1

I would guess that if Walmart is getting the systems in place, they're going to use them, whether AB962 gets overturned or not.

I'm sure that Wal-mart is only looking at the business perspective. They wouldn't do it if they didn't make money.

I know that if they looked at my purchase history, (I pay with cash, but whatever) they would find that I buy ammo everytime I go there to buy other items, and conversely, if I don't buy ammo, I don't go there to buy other items and I'm sure many others are the same, and they know that.

Probly. The Lame-Mart in my little burgh completely missed out on the ammo goldmine. While the Wally's down the hill sold all they could get, Lame-Mart has had the same boxes of overpriced rifle & shotgun ammo on the shelf for years...

Projectiles for handgun rounds are under the purview of AB962, yes? So, not only reload but stock up on bullets or cast your own too ...

I had asked about this recently. Here is what I learned.

"Reloading components are NOT affected by the language of this bill. It has already been discussed here:

See posts #109-120 for the final clarification.
Unfortunately, out of state retailers may not understand this. We'll see."

Wha...? I've never had to sign for either powder or primers. If I were you, I'd seriously consider my next purchase of powder/primers from Powder Valley or Widener's or TnT Reloading. They don't require that nonsense.
