    policing the brass

when you go to a range do you just pick up all the brass you see for the calibers you like? go up to other shooters and ask if they want their brass? how about YOUR brass, how do you keep track of it?

I never just pick up brass that I know isn't mine. I always try and ask first, just in case. More often than not, they don't reload, don't mind me picking up their brass, and appreciate me asking first.

If it's my brass, I just pick it up. I've seen people mark up their brass w/ Sharpies and such, but I don't. If it's in my general area, and it's a caliber I'm shooting, I'll pick it up.

I pretty much get everything I see....figure I can swap or scrap it if it is not reloadable. I will ask for it if I see someone who obviously is not a reloader and not making an effort to collect it. My cases will get mixed up with everything else picked up. Not a big deal as far as pistol cases go, but it would be nice to keep the rifle cases segregated. I just keep an eye on then during processing and look for signs of wear and early case separation.
