Isn't the brass worth more for recycling? Why doesn't the government just recycle it?

They are recycling it by auctioning it off. This lot will sell for $100,000++ if you watch it. All the bidding takes place in the last few hours of these auctions. Most of the recent ones have been getting $2.45-$2.75/lb. One in Feb. actually went for $3/lb. The brokers buying most of these lots are buyers for the China market.

Better have some deep pockets. You have to post $10,000 just to be able to bid on this!

If my money wasnt so tied up, and everyone paid on time I could hang in there, I could find local storage and transport easily for it too, h34r:
but is not meant to be I guess, maybe next time with a smaller lot, I could get into reloading

Read the auction, the brass has been through a heated popper. This ensures that any live ammo has been taken care of, if the brass was heated to much it's worthless for anything but scrap. Plus it also states that there's blanks included in the lot.

That would have to be one VERY BIG GB! If this was all .50 cal brass, you would have 400,000 pcs to sell. But it is not. On the other extreme, if it was all .223 brass, you would have 3.5 Million pieces to move!

In reality, it is somewhere in between, still most likely 1-2 million cases to handle....

Lot sold for $113,001.00, not too bad IMHO
there could have been at least at 30% return in there, if some ofthe brass was reloadable it could been way more,oh well
