what are "Palma" bullets? anyone use these?

just been surfing the web regarding precision shooting, and it seems like popular bullet companies like Sierra and Hornady are making these standardized "Palma" bullets for these long range high power matches. specifically in the .308 caliber, these "Palma" bullets have to be 155 grains and are capable of shooting out to 1000 yards.

i guess my first question is, what is "Palma"?

are these "Palma" bullets inherently more accurate for long range shooting than others?

those "Palma" bullets look pretty short and 155 grains is relatively light, can these stay pretty accurate in the wind?

thanks for helping out a noob!

Normal NRA highpower shoots iron sighted guns at 200, 300 and 600yds.
Palma is the longrange iron sight game, typicallly shot at 800, 900 and 1000yds.
Basically, under international palma rules, you must shoot a 308 and the bullet can not weigh more than 156gr.
Therefore, all the 155gr bullets are made to follow international palma rules.

Because the bullets are so light, you can drive them really fast, especially from the typical 30" barrels that palma rifles have.

Most palma bullets have BC's equal to 175gr matchkings so they actually fly better to 1000yds because of the increased velocity.

Note that you *need* to shoot 2950fps or higher to use 155gr effectively to 1000 yards.

As Randall already indicated, Palma rifles usually have 30" barrels. If you're shooting 26" or shorter, you're better off sticking to 175gr.
