I just bought some of these at big5 they were on sale I was wondering if these were any good.

They are really good. Better than Wolf. Which a tad better than Yugo brass. I was surprised at how accurate this was...Use steel sight and aim at a target 100yrds out...Surprisingly it is a very accurate round. Had 4/5 heads shots from 100yrds using steel sights with a human silhouette.

The price is more than I want to spend on 7.62x54 though.

Well thats good to hear it was an impulse buy at big5 so I really didn't know much about them.

They are also made in Russia...Wonder if they are entirely different CO than Wolf or other RUS ammo companies....Yeah it was $7 a box. I picked up 5 to try.

Get some of the Yugo brass at Wideners....$200 gets you 1260 and it is brass. You pay shipping though. That is decent stuff.

They are also made in Russia... I had the impression from what I'd read that MFS was Hungarian commercial stuff, usually brass and boxer primed.
And yes, very good quality. Is this stuff steel cased?

I've put 300 down the pipe in my 7.62 AR. It's clean, accurate, non-corrosive, brass cased, range safe [no magnet], etc. Haven't had any sort of malfunction using it.

my sks doesn't care what you put through it and it's pretty accurate. at roughly 200 yds with the sight adjusted i hit an old air tank 9 out of 10 while my poor brother was having trouble hitting it with his scoped 30-06, lol. never had issue with Wolf except that it's dirty as hell. again though, this is an SKS, with an AR, your experience may vary, a lot.

Ok I take back whatever I said. I bought some MFS from Cabelas that was brass cased and non-magnetic core. The stuff at Big 5 is metal cased/magnetic core... I'd rather buy Wolf/Golden Tiger/whatever else...

Not worth it.

It looks to me that the MFS ammo that Big 5 is selling is likely made by Barnaul.
They (Barnaul) make excellent ammo though.
