    Cleaning brass question...

    Got lots of 50BMG brass...
Lots of dirt in it too...

Best to shoot with the hose and air dry before they hit the tumbler? or does it matter if they enter the tumbler with dirt??

Knock off the big stuff first then toss em in and tumble.

      1+

      Get the dirt out
Once you add dirt to the media it will live their forever

I have a rotary tumbler, really dirty brass can be washed in it ( without media of course )

I took some 409 and hot water and put in my walnut media to clean after only 1500 leo brass which was real dirty. I let it run for 2 hours then dumped it into colander and rinsed and let it dry on towel in sun. Like new now. Used 2 cups hot water to 1/4 cup 409.

50bmg brass once it has dirt is not good to use. The thing to do is sent it to me for proper disposal at once.; Do the same with anymore you get or any 257weatherby brass.

Blow it out with air or wash and dry it then tumble. If you have allot then a cheap cement mixer without the pattles installed from Harbor Frieght works well for cleaning large amount of brass. Walnut media from the pet shop works well. You can add media additive if you like to it also.
