I've finally decided to take the plunge into reloading and just snagged a lee hand loader for my mosins. I'm reading the faq and balancing it off the lee kit parts and just wanted to double check to see if I needed anything besides the kit, tumbler, manual, and ammo components.

Calipers, powder measure, dies, spray case lube, colander for separating media and brass (colander and a paint bucket will work great and cheap) reload tray (cheapest one will work great) old Tupperware containers for sorting brass into stages (i write on them the next stage i have to do so i can do a few hundred at a time and never forget where i left off at) The lee hand primer is super cheap and works GREAT. I use them on my match and cheap stuff. The stuff of stuff that most people have is not necessary but very nice. case trimmer (i still haven't used mine yet bec my brass is too short) electric tickler (after u do 50 rounds its just becomes exhausting trying to use a balance beam or electric scale. Reloading boxed after yr finished (at first i used zip lock and write in sharpie the load and bullet i used). The list goes on.

I suggest buying the basics and u will find out what u need real quick. I would recommend getting a single stage press and some point. The dies and all the other equipment will transfer over. Mosins do not require real close tolerences when reloading.

If i were u i would buy
Tupperware containers
Calipers
spray case lube
steal a colander from the kitchen
reloading try is a must
lee hand primer and u must get the shell holders for it
and some sort of scale rcbs 505 is cheap and works yr gonna need one to weigh yr loads and bullets on it

spray case lube Lee kit comes with a lube that works GREAT, don't spend money where you don't need to
steal a colander from the kitchen I took an old bucket, drilled some holes in the bottom. Price: free. Works great.
reloading tray I drilled 50 holes in a piece of wood, It was a pain but do-able. Or you could buy one. But I will agree, these are good to have.
lee hand primer and u must get the shell holders for it Your hand-press came with a priming tool. It works fine. Use that until you're ready to move on.

You can use an electronic or a beam. The midway I have works good, but the auto-shutoff is annoying. I'm looking at buying a beam scale in the future, so it can't hurt to start with a beam

To add to that list you'll need dies. Probably brass since most mosin ammo is non-reloadable, unless you've been shooting factory new stuff. You'll need a trimmer. The lee ones work well again, but they do tend to eat up your fingers if you do a lot of trimming.

A block of wood with holes drilled in it for a try is a great idea, didn't think of that. I'm unfarmilar with the lube and the primer press. The bucket with holes it it works great also just make sure yr holes are large to drop enough media out of it. U really only need the holes just smaller than yr smallest brass yr reloading. U do need brass but I figured u knew that. If u just think about the stuff u might need or look at pics online u will figure out a way to make it.

I guy I know who is a great marksman told me that everything but the function action of yr gun and optics u can buy from a hardware store and make yrself. It's very true, tumbler media u can get there or at a feed store, u can make ye own lube, trys, shakers, bags, mounts, bi pods, so on and so on.

One thing that I think that is very important is a place ow work bench to reload on. Mine is too low and kills my back. I enderstabd yr using a hand loader but a good desk and chair will do wonders. Get lots and lots of books and read everything on the net u can. U can look up on YouTube there is a tone of stuff to help u out.
