Am i using my redding reloading dies properly?

I have redding 84111 223 series A reloading die. Its a three die set and i have no idea if im using them properly. Im full length sizing them (marked FL ON) then neck sizing them (marked NK X9) then seating the bullet (marked OM). I was told to only use the FL ON then seat them. Im doing all the rest of the prep in-between all of this. I have no idea if i need to do all three with this set and the instructions are less then helpful...

you can neck size or full size but not both

not to sound harsh. in the front of most reloading manuals there are tons of information in them of what and when to use what equipment. best time to read this is when you are sitting on the pot! no one will bother you and its a few minutes when you are supossed to be resting. Why not read some good stuff!!!!!!!!

I read what came with it but not my harnaday book... Ill do that now... I just tested only full length re size it and it dropped into the chamber and the bullet no longer just fell into the case. I think i just need to FL size it unless im using the stuff that came from my ar then i believe i can just neck size it. But ill test these theories first.

Im curious, can i just buy the competition seating die from redding or do i need to get the set?

neck sizing is just that instead of sizing the whole case it just sizes the neck. it is used after you fire the brass through your camber/rifle. it helps the brass last longer not to over work the case and supposed to increase accurancy. you can purchase a seperate comp seater from various venders.

I agree with Mebejets.. I have Cabela's catalogs and other similar reading material in my throne room.

I'm reading my hornaday book at the moment. I never new how much info it had in it. Great tip. I just order a 223 reloading book. It was a few dollars from midway. A friend has four or five books he uses plus caliberspecific. I'm still looking for a Berger book for 223. I can't seem to find any info on their loads for varget but I don't know where to look

You should have more than one reloading manual, but the one I find the best is Lyman's.

Call or email Berger and they'll send you a PDF with their load data.

You may well find someone local that will help you out in person . I have taught few people to reload but always ask them to read a manual first

I got a few people to help me but I got no one that sits ms down and really shows me. I'm leading the hard way and out of books ar the moment. My wife is still in Iraq so I'm trying to get this done before she comes back. Ie the loads worked out, the room done, and to stop buying things twice bec I'm buying the wring stuff
