I've been experimenting with some blank black powder loads in .38 and .45 Colt, and I'm having problems with the primers backing out. On the .38, I took a few and drilled out the flash hole to about an 1/8th of an inch, but they still back out. I've tried capping the load with wax, and florists foam, and they still back out in the same manner as if I fired them with primers only. Any suggestions?

.38 & .45 Colt blanks

Since 100+ read the question, but no answers, I just started experimenting myself. I thought I would share my results of my trial and error.
Since the intended platforms are single action .357, and .45 Colt cowboy guns, I picked up some nickel cases as to differentiate them from the rest of my reloads. For the .357, drilling out the flash hole to 1/8 inch solves the primer backing out, even firing a primer only. For the .45s drilling out to 9/64 inch works great, with no back out, even with primer only.
Just thought I'd share in case anybody else needed a recipe.
Normal reloading warnings apply.
