Where to get 1911 stainless slide

Two questions.

1. Where does one buy a government model 1911 stainless slide. Only place I see them for sale is the Caspian website.

2. How the heck does a bull barrel come out of a .45 slide if you don't have a barrel bushing and plug in the front and you have a full length guide rod. Or do they not use a full length guide rod with bull barrels???

I have their most recent catalog and they have many to choose from.
Maybe someone else can point you in the right direction.

You can choose from a number of slides from Brownells. You'll also need the tools to fit it to the frame if you don't have them. If the slide is loose on the frame, it can be lots of work and you'll need the proper swages and clamps to tighten it.

A bull barrel comes out of the slide of a .45 the same way a conventional barrel does. You take out the slide stop, take off the slide, take out the recoil spring and rod and plug, and take the barrel out the front of the slide. If you have a bull barrel with a full length guide rod, you need a small tool to hold the spring and plug in compression so you can remove it from the slide. Kimbers use a small "L" shaped tool for this and Springfield uses a little sleeve that snaps on the guide rod.

My bull barreled 45 uses a captured recoil spring with a full length recoil spring guide. (think of a backwards recoil plug with a flange that keeps it from going out of the slide)

You wouldn't happen to have a picture of that would you? Trying to figure out how best to do this. I would prefer not having to use any tools to get the guide rod out.
