First 2 choices for reloading manuals?

I have the Speer Reloading Manual #14.
I'd like to get 2 more manuals (to start with) to go along with the Speer book.
What would be the next 2 books would you recommend for a novice that already has the Speer #14 manual?

I want real paper books, NOT online manuals.
I'm sure I'll acquire many books as time goes along, but I'd like to order 2 more manuals right away to help get me pointed in the right direction and stay out of trouble.

What's a good start?

lyman and hornady are good...

Lyman (or Sierra) and then Lee. I don't like Lee stuff, but the load recipes are conservative so you know you have a safe starting point.

Ha! I knew I'd get a lot of different answers!
OK, I've got the "Lyman reloading handbook 49th edition" and the "Hornady book of cartridge reloading 7th edition" in my shopping cart, along with a "Competition Electronics ProChrono digital Chronograph" and a few Hornady XTP bullets.

That's really all I can afford for now. I'm a married man and The Wife is starting to make some funny noises about all the "stuff" I've purchased this month, so I need to keep a low profile on the debit card for a while....

Thanks for the book suggestions! It's a good start, and I'm sure I'll acquire many others as time passes.

In my opinion, Sierra manual is a must. Lyman is good for lead bullet reloading.

Have the Lyman 49th edition, a .223/5.56 Loadbook on the way and next will be the Sierra.

Sierra then the one from the mfg of bullets you use most. I've got Hornady & Nosler in addition to the Sierra. I also have the Speer.

Lyman #49 is a must. You have a speer so the next one would be Hornady UNLESS you are using Barnes bullets. Then you MUST have the barnes book as their bullets require different data than others. If you load allot of Nosler bullets then get the nosler book before the Hornady. "I" rarely use Sierria(sp) bullets or their book. "I" see nothing special about their book.

I'm like you in that I prefer books over computer information. I don't have a computer on my reloading bench, but I do have a book shelf. That way I don't have to leave the bench if I want to look something up in the middle of a loading session.

I like the Hornady manual because it gives several load levels and approximate velocity instead of just start and max like some do. From what I've read online form others with experience, the Lee manual spends a lot of time bashing the other manufacturers, I don't need that in a reloading manual.

Once you get a couple manuals, look into Loadbooks USA for specific cartridge information from all the major powder and bullet manufacturers in one handy spot.
