    Milpitas Walmart

Has anyone purchased ammo (particularly 9mm) at the Milpitas Walmart off highway 880? I'm picking up my Glock 17 in San Jose and deciding if its worth to make the pit stop for ammo here? Buddy may carpool if its worthy and needs .40 ammo for his Glock 22.

And which type of ammo would you recommend for a new Glock? Does it require any break-in with different types of grain?

I was down there a week ago yesterday and they had a metric buttload of .40S&W and 9mm. It was all Federal and Winchester. Of course things change and they could have bare shelves again for all I know - maybe give a call.

No clue on the other question re: break-in.

I made a post last week about milpitas walmart having an assload of 9mm and .40. they sell cheap federal ammo (9mm) at 9.87/box of 50, which works out to 21 cents per round after tax. you're limited to 6 boxes per person, according to their rules. however, one time i went there and they just got a new shipment, the guy didn't care and gave me 20 boxes on the spot.

glocks are the AKs of pistols, you can feed them anything. I wouldn't worry about running federal ammo through a glock.

The 6 box limit has been lifted for some time now. 9mm ammo seems to be showing up at walmart quite often now. There is a good chance that it will be in stock but as said before, things change by the hour. I can only speak for my local walmart in Tracy and it was packed with 9mm and 40 S& W. I even seen some Winchester hollow point defense ammo showing up.

The lifting of the 6 box limit by Walmart was big talk on Calguns a couple of months ago. Im surprised to hear Milpitas WM still has a limit on ammo. The one here in Tracy, if you want to buy the whole cabinet, you can. Manteca, same thing....

This walmart almost always has 40. The 9mm comes but goes quickly. Very lucky man if you find 45. They still have the 6 limit.

So I dropped by here yesterday and picked up 100rd of Winchester 115 grain ammo for $23.xx + tax. They also had (50rd) Federal 115 grain for $9.xx + tax on the cheaper side.

The only hollow points they had were for .40 and 9mm which were 180 grain (forgot the brand and price).

I forgot to pick up some target sheets, does the Oakland or San Leandro Walmart carry those?

nope, none in Alameda does. That's the problem with Milpitas and Mountain View, being in Santa Clara means they can sell ammo but Walmarts in Alameda and I think Contra Costa counties don't. So the two Walmarts serve the counties of Santa Clara, Alameda, some of Contra Costa, San Mateo, San Fancisco, and Santa Cruz.

                  Hence the shortage.

Milpitas Walmart now has 200 rounds less of the Federal 9mm 115gr FMJ than they did before I showed up yesterday

I would have bought more but I need to hang onto some of my ammo fund in case I find a good deal on .45 ACP

It always seems like they have the ammo when I'm not there. I live near San Francisco and make trips to the Milpitas WM once in a while and every time I've gone they were out of stock of Federal 9mm. But then again... I should call first huh?

Actually, the Walmarts in Alameda county (2 Fremont stores, plus Union City at least) do sell shooting stuff, just no ammo. I never saw targets there, but then again I never looked, but I have seen the same slings, scopes, cleaning kits, etc as in stores that sell Ammo.

I know the 2 Fremont Walmarts carry shoot-N-see targets.

Union city carries targets, and cleaning supplies.
