7.5 swiss loads with RL15?
Tags: None -
i've heard of rl17, but not 15. -
It's a good powder for it. But, there's just not much published reloading data for 7.5 Swiss out there. Even Alliant's website neglects to list a single load for it. I had a similar problem when I started loading 7.5. I had 16lbs of Varget and could not find any published load data for it. I ended up doing a lot of cross referencing, interpolations and came up with my own load of 42gr Varget under a 150gr pulled surplus bullet. It's a little on the light side but, it shoots great and still has enough energy to knock steel pigs down at 300 yards.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

You could probably work up using .308Win data and better pretty good. The 7.5x55 is a slightly larger case, but has a lower working pressure than the .308Win, so it would probably even out. Probably ~43grs with a 168gr is where you'll end up.Luck favors the prepared.

All the comparible load data that I've seen indicates that 7.5 uses less powder than .308 for the same projectile. So, be careful if you attempt this.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

sorry, to clarify, what i meant was that i'd heard of good loads for 7.5 swiss with RL17. one of my customers actually gave me a pound of it and said it works great. he owns over 15 swiss rifles and showed me most of them. real nice guy and i do need to get over to the swissrifle website to thank him again. he gave me 20rds of gp11, 40rds of brass, a can of waffenfett, and a lb of RL17. customers like this make my job worthwhile. anyhow, i'll do some research and see what kind of loads i can dig up.Comment
