    another 9mm load question

The only powder I have at this time is Unique. What i'm trying to find is an accurate load with 125 gr LRN. tried 4.7 gr powder and not happy with results. should i go up or down in charge weight? As a side note are there issues with Unique powder metering thru powder dispensers? my dispenser throws wildly varying weights so i'm stuck with weighing each charge so you can see my dilema. Thanks. Later.

Since Unique is a double base wafer (flake) shaped propellant it does not meter that well. I would try another powder like AA#7,Bullseye,Titegroup and Win-231.

What kind of powder measure are you using? If there is static electricity build up it can affect charge weight quite a bit.
Unique should be a pretty decent powder in 9mm. Some other powders might meter better, but I'd see if you can make the stuff you have work.
      all the best,
      Mike
There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?

Thanks for the reply Eaglemike. The measurer is from Hornady and after it was cleaned I ran some used dryer sheets thru it. Maybe again, huh?

As already said Unique just doesn't meter as well as others. If you see any WST give it a try. It meters awesome and loves lead. By far my favorite powder. I use it for 9mm, 45, and 38spl. Very clean, high volume, and even smells good. Great stuff.

I use Unique for my 9mm but for 115 gr. bullet load. The powder dispenser I use is RCBS Uniflow but I purchase a powder baffle for it. The baffle did help with metering more consistenly in regards to Unique.

Trying to find an accurate load in regards to the powder charge, what reloading manual did you get the recipe from? Is that 4.7 grs. mid-range? I'll cite my Speer #13: 125 grain lead bullet using Unique 4.1 grs. min to 4.5 grs. max. From my experience Unique tends to shine when loaded mid-range to near max.

As other have stated do try different powders. Keep mind mine even after you have tried different powders to also try different bullet style and weight to get the result or at least close it that you seek.

Thats good info. I'm looking at Speer # 14, 124 gr TMJ RN says 5.2 min to 5.8 max.Hornady 7th lists 124 LRN 4.0 min to 5.0 max. I know you can't push lead as fast as fmj, tmj stuff so i guess its time to try different powders and loads.Thanks.
