bout 4 months ago I got a 550, and i have been buying factory ammo ever since, It just does not seem to want to feed primers into the primer cup, it seems to enjoy dumping 3-5 primers on my floor with every stroke... I miss my rockchucker

Hmmm, something is not adjusted right. Never had that type/kind of problem. Have you changed from one primer size to another? Give Dillon a call for sure as 10/22 stated. Just looked over one of the 550's and can't figure out how you could dump that many primers on a single stroke. Are you using the right primer tube & primer bar?

Honestly, why have you not called Dillon for support? I have a 650 and I've broken things left and right, every time they have taken care of the issue.

In my experience, Dillon stands behind their product 1000%. I have not seen such customer service since the old days of nordstroms and costco.

My Dillon 550 I purchased used would dump multiple primers too. Turns out the little plastic retainer/feeder at the bottom of the primer tube was just old and worn allowing multiple primers to drop when the primer bar moved forward. Dillon sent a couple new ones at no charge.

Multiple primers are dropping simultaneously
1. Magazine tip (part # 574S or 574L) is not seated fully in the keyway slot
a. make sure there is actually a magazine tube in the primer housing
b. drop the magazine tube and tip into the primer housing, turn until you feel it drop into the keyway slot, then push down all of the way
2. Using large magazine tube (part # 534L) for small primers a. change to the correct magazine tube for the primers being used
3. Primer feed stop-pin (part # 521) is dirty or sticks
a. if dirty, clean the pin with soap and water. Clean out the hole with a cotton swab soaked with rubbing alcohol or acetone

I dont know if you tried it, but there is an adjustment screw that limits how far back the slide will go when it picks up a primer. It looks like yours may not go quite far enough for the primer to fall into the cup. As others said, verify that you have the correct primer tube for your primers. also, make sure you have the right parts and they are not broken, bent, etc.

I had problems with my 550 priming system also. The screws that held the system onto the press stripped out the threads in the aluminum parts. Dillon sent me a new priming system and now it works fine. the new part also has thread inserts to prevent that from happening again.

Dillon will help you out. Worst case-mail the press to them and let them tune it.

I just added the case feeder to my 550 and it rocks. I would almost rather give up my left......well lets just say I would hate to be without my 550.

From the video it looks like the plastic end cap is missing from the inner primer feed tube. This plastic piece is very important. If its broken or missing all sorts of bad things can happen with the primers. If it came from Dillon that way then you have no way of knowing this. Either way Dillon will fix you up, just give em a call.

^ no, I got it used, that cap was in the bag of "extra parts" that I didn't need.... put it on, now it works like a champ
