Elementary Redding Die Question

Am new to reloading, and have a question on a Redding full length resizing die. What length do I set the decapping rod. It can be adjusted so it emerges from the end of the die, to being over 1/2" inside the die. Where should it be? I am using a Forster Co-Ax press.

Phil set the decapping pin so it is outside of the bottom of the die.

It can be adjusted so the pin extends over 1/2 beyond the bottom of the die. I would expect that is too much. ???

The pin should extend just past the end of the die in order to push the spent primer out of the brass.
Order some spare decapping pins because you will break them sooner or later.
