    Primers and reloading for .50AE

For reloading a .50AE cartridge can you use standard large pistol primers or do you need to get the magnum large pistol primers? Also I just got the rcbs dies for .50AE and I'm not certain which the order is or the process for needing to lube the cases. Any information is greatly appreciated.

You can use either large pistol or large pistol magnum primers but do not use magnum primers with 2400 powder (high pressure). Taper crimp all rounds. Do not use lead cast bullets in the Desert Eagle as it will clog the gas system.
    Never return fire!

thanks. I just got speer tmj's 300 grain and vihtavuori N110 powder. I've got a bunch of winchester large pistol primers for my .45acp reloads that sound like they'll work. I have the RCBS dies for it and it has the bullet seating and cripping die included so it sounds like I've got everything I need. Thanks for the help.

I just shot my first 50AE reloads using H110 powder, CCI350 primers, and Speer 300 grain projos. Not even max charge for these. I will try and get better pics next time out.

Winchester does not make magnum primers but they work for magnum loads from what I hear. All have ever used are CCI primers so I cannot really comment.

I use Wolf Large Pistol Magnum primers and H110. I bought a second set of dies to separate the seat and crimp steps.

I just loaded up a little to test with some regular large pistol primers and they worked. Not sure if they are competition grade. Also I let someone shoot it once for the first time and it didn't lock back but they did for me.
