How much do you want to spend? Had a RCBS to start, went to the powered Dillon trimmer, than stepped up to the plate and bought a Giruad in 223 than added the trimmer head & shell holders for .204 Ruger & 308. Possum Hollow makes a inepensive trimmer that you can use a drill press or powered hand drill on also.

Watcha gonna shoot (.223, .308, etc...), and in what application?

For mass producing ammo on a progressive press...the DILLON RT 1200 CASE TRIMMER.

For bolt action precision rounds....the GIRAUD POWER TRIMMER.

There are a few others that are well known, but the above two are my personal choices. (From the very little that I know).

          My .02,

          Manual lathe type: Wilson
          Powered: Giraud

I have and use both and think that they are the best in category.

I asked that question a little while back. Here's the thread if you want to check it out:

I ended up getting the Wilson lathe for my C&R stuff and Possum Hollow trimmers for .223 and .308. After doing about 400 of .223 cases plus separate passes for deburring and chamfer(also in the drill press) and I'm definitely seeing the value of a Giraud!

Gonna shoot 223,308,30 06, 300 win mag and 45-70 but the most important calibers are 223 and 308. also I'm just starting out don't want to spend alot but don't want to buy junk either.

Then I'd recommend the Possum Hollow for those calibers. They are about $25 each plus about $10 or so for the power adapter(you only need one). In conjunction with a drill press or a drill motor running about 750rpm, you can get through a good number of cases in a decent amount of time. You do have to do separate chamfer and deburring passes which takes extra time.

Overall it's a fine product, especially for the price. Here are some links:

Oh interesting. I've not run mine that fast yet. Perhaps I'll give it a shot and compare the results.

                      Thanks!

I to noticed that the reviews were all 5 stars on trimmers only the Forester seemed not to have bad reviews.

I have a Forester. I don't trim much and I neck size so I don't trim opften but it is a nice simple tool. Easy to set up and takes only a few turns to trim a .308 case. And it was cheap compared to the power trimmers.
different trimmers for different folks I guess

Another vote for the Possum Hollow trimmer. Get the LE Wilson power adapter (to chuck in a drill or drill press) while you're at it. Midway has them at good prices.

The Wilson Chamfer/Deburr tool also fits in that drill adapter, get one of those too. You can use it for all case sizes.

I finally decided to step up to the majors and ordered a Giraud today. I have about 10,000 pieces each of 30-06, 308 and 223 to do Next big item will be a Dillon Super 1050 and then to motorize it Gotta make life as easy as possible.
