    laser cast bullets any input.....?

hey guys looking for some input.

i am getting setup to reload 45acp. just picked up a 1911 and dont want to pay 45c per round. i would like to be able to afford my 45.

i have been looking at my cabellas catalog and they have lasercast alloy bullets. they are cheep and look like they would be great. 200gr SWC and 230gr RN

does anyone have experience with this product? do they feed well in your guns? are they going to shoot straight?

    anything helps thanks.

Although Lasercast are not the cheapest (find Barry's plated), they are cheaper than jacketed. I shoot the 230g RN in a SIG P220 with 5 grains of Unique or Universal. OAL is 1.250". Works fine for plinking and bowling pins.

You can order them direct from the factory if you want, seek Oregon Trail bullets.

I was just looking at the Cabellas web page two minutes ago same bullets, yesterday I spent abount $43 per 500 box locally. Cabela's was $115 for the
230g LRN. You would also have to pay shipping (ouch). So from a cheaper standpoint they are not. Experience wise I have not used them. Curious if they are any good. One reviewer was not impressed.

from what i saw 115 was for 1000 bullets. and 11.5c is not bad. but you can also go to the oregon trail web site and the have alot more selection. that reviewer did he give reason?

Price seems a little high for cast bullets. Here's some alternatives. I'm very happy with missouri bullets.
            I've been a patron of Missouri Bullet Co. http://www.missouribullet.com/index.php I primarily order the following from them for the following prices(5% disc I found online) .358" Dia 148gr DEWC-BB = $25.65 per 500 .452" Dia 185/200gr LSWC = $32.30 per 500 .452" Dia 250gr LRNFP = $40.81 per...

They are pretty smoky in a pistol.. though I picked up some of their 165 gr cast 30 cal rifle boolits, and out of my Marlin 336 using trail boss and keeping velocity to just sub sonic, they shot pretty good and they weren't smoky much at all.. but then they did come out about 20" from my face..

                      my cheap bullets suppliers:
                      1. bear creek - out of cal. good prices, good coating so no leading on a 45(although I might be getting some moly in my barrels. ~.07-.08 ea if I remember correctly.
                      2. precisiondeltasales - for cheap FMJ bullets. ~.12 ea. looking forward to when they start distributing their hollow points. min 2000 bullet order. 9mm prices were pretty amazing @ .07 ea for FMJ.

I'm not a marksman so no guarantees on accuracy/consistency with these bullets.

I love lazercast. I use them in 4570, 45lc,44mag,357mag, 454 casull. Boy are they hard lead bullits. They put one hell of a crater in a steel plate out of my 4570 at 100 yards.

The reviewer was one of the comments on the Cabela website. I believe he said they fouled his barrel just like other lead bullets. I take the comment with a grain of salt, as a reloader if his loads were hot, his barrel will foul with any lead bullet

the no leading claim may not be true for everyone. Lasercast bullets foul my barrel too maybe a little less than other hard cast bullets. They sure are accurate. They lose a little bit of accuracy compare to my best JHP load. I remember they shot 3" groups vs 2" groups at 50 yards out of my PPC revolver.

I have to try Berry's and Bear Creek. It's been years since I tried anything new.

LaserCast are good bullets, but a little pricey for the volume I shoot. I use Bear Creeks and they work great too.
