Lead bullets for .45 acp question

Hey guys, new to reloading, and loving it! I can go shoot whenever I want! Anyway, I would like to load lead bullets this time, being that they are cheaper than the TMJ's I got last time. I was looking at a bunch of companies, but I keep seeing stuff about lubing them, resizing, stuff that makes me think it's more involved than TMJ's. Are there lead bullets that I can use that are pre-lubed, pre-sized, just generally ready to press in and go? The whole reason I got into this was to shoot a lot of ammo for a little money and without a bunch of stress. Help a feller out. Thanks!!

Most lead bullets you buy will be lubed and ready to load. The lubing and sizing is usually only when your casting your own. Casting your own really isn't that hard and it really adds to the savings if you can get cheap/free lead.

the first mould I got was a lee tumble lube. it came with 4oz of allox. after nearly 20 years and thousands of bullits , I still use it today. probably the most savings Ive found in reloading was when I started casting my own. the tumble lube designs dont require sizing or gas checks. they are not match grade but are fine for plinking, practice, cowboy action,or bowling pins. my bullits are costing me around $4 per 1000. mostly propane for melting the wheel weights. Bearcreek is my choice for cheap lead. Moly coated so no lube necessary and my barrels are cleaner than when I used FMJ. No copper fouling, no lead fouling and very inexpensive.

I will not go back to FMJ for the 40 or 45

I have good luck and good customer service and support from Pennbullets.com. They have both match and target grade. Many people that are into competition swear by their bullets. They offer both load data, custom sizing and techincal support for their products. Try them, you will not disappointed.

At $90/k + shipping for just lead, that's WAY too expensive for me.

No feeding problems with LSWC and 1911's? Those are the only .45's I own.

Some 1911's don't like LSWC. However, I've got a buddy I cast for, and he uses the Lee 200gr LRNFP's for .45 Long Colt lubed w/ liquid Alox. So far, so good in his 1911.

I've shot 10s of 1000s of lead bullets from my 1911s and, they shoot great. There is one thing that needs to be mentioned though. If you are shooting a factory Glock barrel, DO NOT use lead only bullets! If you do and don't keep you barrel 99% lead free at all times, you run the risk of blowing up your gun. Glocks have a different kind of rifling and they can lead up extremely fast and cause your barrel to become clogged. This will result in to much pressure being required for the bullet to pass the "clog" and your barrel and other parts of your gun will blow up.

I purchase the 200gr LSWC in the target grade for $70/K. Standard USPS shipping and he can ship up to 70lbs as long the order fits in the USPS box they use.
