    load question for 45 acp

i trying to figure out a good set up and having a little trouble.
    i using
    200 grain swc lead bullets.
    accurate 2 powder

my book calls for an oal of 1.190 however, when i press to that length the bullet is seated so far in the brass you can feel the top edge of the brass with your finger.
in other words the bullets side edge is deeper then the top edge of the brass.

i was going to use 5.2 grains of powder which is a light load but i was thinking of going to to about an oal of 1.250 and then using about 5.8 grains of powder instead.

what is your take on this?

I haven't used your powder, but an OAL of around 1.250 usually works for the LSWC bullets I have used. Just get about .030" of the shoulder above the edge of the case and you should be OK. I don't have any load data in front of me but just use a conserative charge, start near the bottom and work up. To my undersatnding the 45 ACP is such a low pressure cartridge that the OAL isn't normally going to be a big issue unless you're talking about extremes.

        This is what I do.

if you have a case length guage, use that. else, take the barrel out of your gun. drop a factory round in there and see where it seats in the barrel. then run a bullet OAL till it fits in the barrel like the factory round. Different SWC castings will require different OALs. I'm running bear creek moly coated and mine ended up fitting @ 1.230(match barrel).
