need some bulk 223 ammo - FAST!

    Hey Calgunners,

I not yet setup to load 223, but I will. In the meantime, I need some 55 gr 223 ammo for plinking and 3-gun. Where can I get some in bulk (1000 quantity)? I just want to stock up before the summer rush comes. Recommendations on mail order (instate or out of state) and stores in the Bay Area will be fine.

BTW, does anyone have some 223 recipes? Please list powder, powder amount in grains, and kind of bullet.

The usual bevy of online outlets are out of stock. You can still find some dwindling quantities online if you're willing to do some digging. For example, I see that Outdoor Marksman has some 62g 223 for about $160/500rds. Their website shows only 7 boxes in stock so that's a possible route for you.
If you want instate, I think the cheapest I saw was at Canyon Arms in Martinez. You can get Remington 55g UMC for $5.99/20rds ~ $299/1000rds.
      Hope this helps!

Hunting Shack Ammunition may also have what you're looking for.

Look at AIM surplus, widners reloading, pats reloading, and Miwall corp... If your in the Bay area you can hit, Canyon sports but don't talk to that Zack guy he's an A-hole, but the owner. Ron K is a cool guy... Don't expect bulk ammo at low prices, as it's a retail gun store.. B2B

Yep, Winchester 55gr $349/1K delivered - just ordered some today.

Though in the "Ammo in the Bay Area" thread it looks like Canyon has it for cheaper than that ~$0.33/round with tax.

Are you opposed to wolf for plinking?
