bulged .223 cases

So I've been running into a lot of these cases when processing onced fired police range brass I've purchased through an online dealer. My insticts tell me to toss them so I've been putting them in a seperate pile, just wanna see what you guys think. Majority of it is on FC brass which I know isn't the greatest but I find the same on other brands of brass as well. Any input is appreciated, I just want to make sure i'm not tossing out brass that still might be ok to use.

Normal. Brass expands under pressure to seal the chamber. The case is about .007" smaller in diameter than the chamber. The bulge is the .007" of case expansion.

How much .223 do you think a person could carry into battle. while loaded down with there regular survival gear?.

What a random question. 10 mags. A fully loaded plate carrier is running around 50lbs. Water, ammo, armor, it adds up.

Just checked my stock of 223 brass and alot look the same as yours. Seems to be normal as once said. You can buy a gauge called a RCBS Case Master to check for thining of the brass in that area from the inside..

Are you sizing with a Full Length or Short Base die?

If it chambers you are fine. You can always have your sizing die kiss the shell plate on the upstroke to see if it resizes farther down the case.

Thanks guys, the brass is being full length sized with lee dies, and they drop right into my wilson case gauge. So I'm assuming it should be ok to load these?

All my .223 brass from lee dies looks the same. I've shot...~400 rounds like that no problem.

Cases running through my Dillon dies do not have this bulge.

I wonder...Is it an actual bulge, Or just a ring where the die stopped? Have you measured it?
