    45 colt dies for 45acp

Since I just picked up my XD-45 and will be picking up my 1911 in about a month I want to start loading for the 45acp. I already have alot of stuff for the 45colt and was wondering if the dies will work on the 45acp. I know the rim isnt the same but I also reload for the 30-06 so I got the right shell holder.

You'll need different seating and crimping dies. The sizer should work as should your powder drop die.

No! The sizer die is not the same! 45acp is tapered and 45LC is straight walled! Look at Dillon's Blue Press or call them if you have questions.

you should come by some time we could have a reloading day for .45 acp, as i have a cast for the bullets and the dies!

Just bring powder primers and cases!

I'd be down for a reloading day I have 1000 230 grain bullets and winchester large pistol primers but I will need to get brass and powder.

The seater may work, or you can buy a different seater plug. The crimp I don't think so

They are out of 45acp and don't know when they will have more, midway is out of all but the most expencive brass so I only have about 250 but if I shoot off that 250round box I will have 500 cases unpreped sound like I've got to hit the range

Please forgive me my misinformation. I wasn't thinking about the taper.

As far as brass goes, find a buddy going through a police academy and see if he'll bring you a few buckets home. I split all the brass with a buddy and we both ended up with two full buckets of brass. He took all the 40, I took the 45 and we split the 9. Of course, some of the 40 ended up a bit mixed as that stuff is a bear to quickly separate. I also have all my 45 brass from the Navy so I have a freaking ton of the stuff ready to reload as soon as I get my press set back up. I'm going to have to hit a gun show and bring a truck for primers, powder and bullets.
