.45 Colt and unique question (regarding smoke)

Was at the indoor range shooting my reloads which are .45 Colt (long colt) 250 gr laser-cast LRNFP, over 8.0gr of Unique. Why is this load so smokey? I use unique in .38 spl (4.3-4.5 grs) and my .45 acp (6.0gr) and dont really notice any smoke. but 8.0grs in the long colt spews a huge cloud of smoke. Anyone know why?

Could be the bullet lube is contributing to the smoke problem.

Unique is known to be a little "smokey" though especially when loading for the larger calibers.

Were your other reloads using lead bullets as well?

Try to apply a heavier crimp. I moved to 5.5grs of Trailboss powder with a Brear Creek 205 grn moly coated bullet and the level of smoke is much lower.
