yeah i HATE this. every time we go out shooting all my friends are either buying ammo a few days before, or trying to find some that very day!

Shooting 200 grain Lead SWC for my .45 it costs me about $6.50 a box of 50. I have not had to buy brass but I don't buy components in bulk yet either. It took about 13 boxes to pay for my reloading equipment assuming $24 per box for ball ammo.

So yeah, you can save allot, however you will probably shoot allot more too. YMMV.

Edit: As was stated above, the BEST thing is not having to worry where you're going to find ammo if you want to shoot. So long as you can pick up the majority of your brass and you have components you're GTG.

Ya know, it's AWFULLY darn nice of ya to police up their brass while they complain about not having ammo.

        ^^^ This!

'Course, I don't know how much I'll enjoy it if SWMBO ever finds out just how much $$$ I have stashed under the bench in lead & primers.

I don't agree that the cost of the press should be included as the payback. I mean after all, what would you do with your press after you hang up your shooting gear.....throw it away? No, you're gonna sell it. So why add the press, and even any reloading gear, to the cost if you're gonna eventually sell it anyway? Is there a cost calculator that puts the sale of the press back into the equation?

Makes no sense to me to consider the cost of reloading gear pay back.

Yes you will save alot of cash by rolling your own, but beyond that, it's a GREAT hobby, almost as enjoyable as shooting your own ammo.

Oh man! I thought it meant I would save money not spend more or whoot twice as much I'll take spending the same as most folks do on ammo but being able to shoot twice as them

Well then when you sell the equipment you can deduct it from the ledger until then it stays
