    Need help in loading .223

I'm a total newbie to the reloading world. How much gunpowder (accurate 2230) do I need to use on a 55gr Nosler bullet?

What is the overall length supposed to be?

How far in does the bullet have to be sitted inside the casing?

any info, and pointers would be absolutely helpful.

if anyone wants to help me out, i offer beer and free ammo. i'm in tarzana, california

Get a manual. Speers. Lyman. Sierra. Read it. Not all of it is necessary, just the chapters on reloading basics for rifle.

Specific load information, charge weights, case trim lengths and cartridge overall length for .223 Remington will be found on a set of dedicated pages of a manual.

Start low and work up, looking for high pressure signs along the way.

There isn't any need to thank me. All I did was go on Alliant's website and post the link to the data.

+1, except I would get at least two manuals, as the info on particular rounds varies somewhat.

Not something you'll find in a main stream bookstore very often. Try a gun shop that carries books and reloading supplies--or order online from Midway.

                    Pete,

I reload all my .223 for my ar to an OAL of 2.250 +- .002. Only because that is what fits the mag, however the actual chamber of the barrel could accept a longer bullet but i would have to hand feed it. (only gun specific though)

As far as powder weights go, start low record data and work up. Always practice safe reloading, dont rush, dont force and dont smoke...

                    for further info check out
