Best bullet for .308 @ 100-200 yards

I am trying to figure out the best bullet weight for shooting at 100 to 200 yards. I am looking to spend no more than $27 per hundred. I will be using IMR 4895 for the loads. I was wondering if Speer 125 GR HP TNT's would be accurate or if I should go with something else?

27 per hundred can buy you whatever bullet you want.

If you're just plinking at closer ranges you'd probably be fine with a hornady or winchester 150 FMJ, they are cheap. Another favorite of mine is the nosler 168 custom competition, you can buy them in bulk for 19 cents a bullet.

Anything really.. Boat tailed bullets are a waste at anything under about 300 yards. You could use flat points meant for the 30-30 and still likely be fine out to 200. I would get the cheapest thing I could find in the 125-165 range. The 125's will recoil a little less than the heavier ones. My favorite under 200 yard bullet has always been the Speer Varmint 125 TNT-HP in the 500 pack. In my model 700, I use 45.0 gr of IMR 4895 and the Speer 125 TNT's seated as long as I can feed them from the magazine.

168 SMK - it was specifically designed for 300 meter international competition.

it's mostly cosmetic but these are good out to 800 yards if need be.

I shoot the 155grn Palma, out to 600yds, it's pretty easy on Steel (44gr of RL15)

They're all over the place. I think I bought some from Midsouthshooterssupply.com before, but midway, powdervalley, natchez, couple others have them.

Usually they are around 190-200 for a box of 1k.

It's a good bullet for not a lot of money.

I like to use a Hornady A Max 168gr bullet. I only have tried my loads to 100yds but they shot 1/4 MOA no problem. We all know that it takes more that a good bullet to be accurate though. Norma brass also.

Nothing, just that the nosler 168's are the same price, and are a better bullet.

Every once in a while, you can find those FMJBT as factory blems/2nd's for $13/100 or thereabout. I snagged a couple hundred... So far, they're as good as the regular bullets.
