    Used Dillon RL 550 Press

I purchased the press yesterday along with a bunch of other reloading stuff. Last night I went through all of the parts and started cleaning the press. It had been stored in a garage for a couple of years and was dusty and had a little surface rust. I grabbed a rag and went over all of the moving parts and bare metal surfaces with Break Free and Steel wool. Cleaned up really nice. Of course today I decided to look over the owners manual and found where it says: "Do not to use penetrating spray lubricants like Break Free or WD 40 on the moving parts" DOH!!

Time for a little degreasing and then some light oil....

I have to purchase a few small parts for the press and some parts for conversion kits. Is there a local source for parts (San Jose) or do I have to order through Dillon?. Before I start bidding on parts on e-bay are the caliber conversion kits good for both the 550 and 550B?
What is the difference between the 550 and 550B?
    Thanks,
    BTL

I'd call up Brian Enos with a big long list of what you're missing... he charges Dillon's price, but his S&H is cheaper or something like that. He may be able to get some of it warranty replaced for you too.

Dillon is in AZ, so very close.... just try to get things from them directly... call them up and they may offer warranty on "replacement parts"!

            hey man

hey boarding team. Stay off of craigslist! That Dillon was mine!!! Looked like a good deal too.
Glad somebody planning on using it picked it up. there is a guy on CL buying all the reloading stuff and reselling it. IMHO He's a bigger Uranus than me.....

And then there are folks who buy presses at great deals, in order to relocate them to good homes without profit... Ivanimal handled a lot of smaller presses a while back.

I know some of the differences between the "B" and "non B" are the inclusion of the powder measure failsafe return rod along with the bracket for it and the sheet metal "bearing" under the primer bar.

There was a guy posting yesterday that someone on Craig's list in San Diego had a Dillon 550 for sale for $150.

It's gone! I talked to the guy yesterday and someone local had already picked it up.

Although I'm a single stage user, I do respect Dillon for their replacement warranty.

A couple of years ago, a friend received a Dillon press from his father in New Hampshire. His dad found it at a garage sale. The set was missing primer tubes and a bunch of small parts.

One call to Dillon and my buddy received all the small parts and a couple of primer tubes to put it back in working order.

                      No charge.

I bought a 550b press about 2 years ago, and never got around to make a bench for it until this past week. Works great... should have mounted it earlier.
