Are Federal Game Loads less powerful than Federal Multi Purpose Loads?

    In what Caliber/Gauge?

If you are referring to shotgun shells, the "DRAM EQUIVALENT" or DRAM information on the box of shotgun shells will give you the velocity given for the load.

Dram equivalent is the old black powder amount of drams of powder to get to a certain velocity. Some shotgun ammunition will give the velocity on the box(especially in steel loads). It's an outdated way to show velocity.

Click onto this link and scroll down to Dram Equivalent to see the velocity with the given shot weight charges.

You will likely find that all purpose loads are equal to game loads in the same shot charge weight and dram equivalent.
