    Setting Bullet Seating Depth

This may be a dumb question but I have to ask. If you have multiple cartridges that require different OAL for the same caliber (ie... 115gr vs 147gr 9mm) other than having multiple turrets or caliber conversion kits, is there a way to set the bullet seating depth for multiple OALs quickly and accurately? If I have a particular load that is set to one OAL, is the only way to adjust for another load is to use a caliper, measure and adjust until you get the desired OAL for the other load? I have been loading various 9mm with different powders and bullet weights for experimentation and testing and I have been changing OALs quite a bit.

It only takes me a minute or so to adjust my OALs. So, I just adjust them. If you are planning to do a lot of back and forth between two or three loads, you could get different seating dies and swap them out each time.

        Hello there, Cyclepath,

I use Redding Comp seaters myself. Example - I have a XL650 set up just for 45ACP and use different bullets and/or weights for it. I was having to reset my dies everytime I used Zero or Berry's 230 gr or 200 gr LSWC among others.
It is not a major chore to reset your dies but I it was enough for me to throw a Redding Comp seater die on it and record my marks/settings for each different bullet. Works just fine...

What kind of dies are you using? Lee dies are easy to mark and adjust but Lee dies are also cheap enough to just buy an extra.

I am using Lee Dies in a Lee Classic Turret. How would your mark them?
