    Reload price question.

I had to ask here since you guys would probably know the market price best on ammo. I have a chance to buy 200 rounds of Lead (no copper jacket) 45 acp already loaded and ready to shot. they are also brass shells that are on their 3rd time being loaded. The brass was cleaned and polished before they were loaded and the lead 45 acp slugs are 200g weight round nose. Are they worth $15 for a bag of 50? This guy is my friends dad and I asked him how much he wanted to sell them for and he gave me a quick price. I will be feeding them into my 1911. and it should be ok to shot. Just wanted to know if that is a fair price?

    $15 for 50 rds
    $60 for 200rds

I think that is a fair price. But personally I would never shoot someone else's reloads in one of my guns. But if you need some ammo to shoot, and trust that he knows what he's doing, the price sounds OK to me.
BTW, just FYI it is illegal to sell reloads in CA without a license.

No license needed to sell ammo, but you do need one to manufacture ammo for sale (a 06 FFL from BATFE).

I have given my buddies ammo and in return they have donated to my beer fund. No manufacture-to-sell here just scratching each others backs .

How well do you know this guys dad? how long has he been reloading? Does he still have all his fingers?

$15 for 50 rounds of lead 45 ammo from a friend? that's too much in my opinion. It probably cost him no more than $7 or $8 tops. I know LAX Firing Range is selling new Winchester ammo at $19/box of 50. FMJ bullets and brand new brass and you get the company standing behind the product.

The way around the 06 FFL requirement is to use someone else's brass. For example, say you're a reloader. Someone wants to buy a couple boxes of ammo from you. If you sell the ammo you made to him, then technically that'd fall under the 06 FFL requirement.

However...if that same person bring you his brass and asks you to reload it, then you're not a "manufacturer" under the BATFE. :-) That's how you can do it. As long as you trust this guy's dad, just bring him some of your brass to reload, he makes a little coin, you save a little coin, and you keep him out of trouble. Everybody except Kevin DeLeon wins.

I like your way of thinking

Also to the OP, just start loading your own ammo
