    Garand

My buddy just got a M1 Garand from his dad. Where is a good place to find ammo for it? Can you not shoot new production ammo?

See this thread re: commercial ammo in a Garand.

CMP is where I do most of my ammo shopping, though.

Use M2 Ball, Greek surplus available from CMP, maybe one or two other places at a higher price. Commercial 30-06 is designed for bolt action, pressures higher than what Garand was designed for. You risk bending op-rod using commercial. For reloading, look for Garand specific load data. Most manuals have separate data for it.

American Eagle (Federal) makes special ammo for the Garand.
