I wanted to use a black powder load to go shoot my Springfield. I was wondering if anyone had a brand recommendation....thanks

You might try Buffalo Arms http://www.buffaloarms.com/ or if you are inclined to roll your own read "Loading Cartridges For The Original .45-70 Rifle And Carbine" by J.S. and Pat Wolf. It all depends on whether you want to shoot it once or a lot. If you want to shoot it a lot I recommend duplicating the 1886 carbine load as it is a very pleasant load out of the rifle.Comment
