brass cleaning dilemma

At first when I bought the CV2100 I was thinking dang this is huge. Now I'm glad I bought it. I also got the CM 2000 separator. I use walnut media for the cleaning/polishing (tumbled for 2 hours) and then switch to corn media to remove any residue (tumbled for an hour). I gotta try the Nu-Funish stuff.

I take my separator outside wearing a dust mask.

BTW: If and when you decide to also load smaller handgun caliber make sure you tumble them separately. I had a few 9mm mixed in with the 45s and some would get stuck inside the 45s

The only problem with the CV2100 is trying dumping brass into the seperator when you have 500 - 600 308 cases. Better have a good back! I have the older CV2000 series and have really put it through the paces & love it.

anyracoon - you're right it does get a bit heavy when I have 1000+ rnds of 45ACPs. I should probably make something out sheet metal (giant funnel type) so it'll dump right in the separator

To clean really dirty brass, or if you want truly shiny brass, try sprinkling some BRASSO POLISH in with the tumbling media. It is usually good for 3-4 batches and by then the media is dirty anyway and needs changing. I find it much easier to detect problem brass when it is really clean. The BRASSO also shortens the amount of time required to get brass ready to load. After tumbling I always dump my brass into and old, large towel to get any dust off. Works great!

BRASSO has ammonia and can deteriorate brass.
